Visual Bugs in ST

The technical development of the game took a long time to get us to launch. Throughout the journey, we ran into technical mishaps - some of which caused our dev team to work late nights, moaning about some maddening bugs. But occasionally, instead of irritating technical issues, we encountered some amusing visual mishaps.

We present you: THE BUG CHRONICLES

When inserting sprites into the game, Renpy (the game engine that we use) will automatically put a magical girl phantom sprite as a placeholder if it cannot find the character art file. As our social media coordinator Chloe (Kit) jokes, “We were just casually cooking in class and all of a sudden I'm questioning whether or not MC signed a contract with Kyubey.” Least to say we were super spooked the first time we saw this phantom pop up in our alpha testing!!!

Then we got used to it… and had to photoshop things in for fun. This is how our team stays sane during late night work sessions: being meme-y all night

“No, Jamie, you are blocking the way.” - our programmer Matt, when he was fine tuning sprite positioning.

(FYI: Boy = Jamie, prior to him introducing himself in Chapter 0)
